COVID-19 Travel Restrictions

COVID-19 Travel Restrictions

Coronavirus travel restrictions have hit United States citizens in a big way. In general, our reluctance to follow best-practices on containing the virus has caused enough spikes nationally, that the EU and other areas of the world have continued to ban Americans from entering their countries. Here's a little Coronavirus travel advice.

Why is that a big deal to you? If you want to go abroad to teach English and get paid or want to go overseas and live with a host family to be an au pair and get paid (and you live in the US), you can't. And you probably won't be able to have that liberty until there is a vaccine. The "mask argument" in the US has more standing than how to get the virus under control here so that other countries will trust us when we finally arrive.

Where can Americans go with GeoVisions Foundation? There are 2 locations open right now, with a 3rd expected to open soon. South Korea and Taiwan are open to Americans if you want to teach English and get paid. Remember: you must have the equivalent of at least a Bachelor's Degree to get a teaching job in South Korea, and you must have the equivalent of at least an Associate's Degree to teach legally in Taiwan. Plan on it taking about three months before you leave to get everything in place. We have a high degree of confidence that teachers who have been hired to teach English in China will still arrive in September.

Australia and New Zealand are planning for foreign nationals to arrive in 2021.

Can you go to the EU and work and get paid as an au pair? Or, volunteer to be a tutor for a host family? If you live in these countries, the answer is yes:

  • Algeria
  • Australia
  • Canada
  • China
  • Georgia
  • Japan
  • Montenegro
  • Morocco
  • New Zealand
  • Rwanda
  • Serbia
  • South Korea
  • Thailand
  • Tunisia
  • Uruguay

If you live in any of the countries bulleted above, we have programs for you if you meet the eligibility requirements. But travel? Yes, you can!

If you live in the US, although you cannot travel right now, we hope you put our programs on your list of things to do in 2021. Apply now, get ready, and then you'll be available when borders open to American citizens. We have people apply all the time now, getting ready for 2021. It gives them time to save for their airfare and visa costs if any. And we think that's a great idea.

We can't wait to welcome you! Until your travel day comes, stay well. Be safe. Be kind.
