Where Will I Teach?
Local Academies
These are defined as language schools, mostly for adults. The location is going to be mostly in San Jose. Plan to teach around 20-30 hours each week.
Online Schools
The great thing about these assignments is that you can live anywhere in Costa Rica you want. You can move around and experience all of Costa Rica. You might even be teaching students from other countries. Set your own schedule.
International or Bilingual Schools
If you are a degreed teacher with experience, you may be able to snag a position here. You'll earn over $1000 per month. You'll need to be ready for the November 25 arrival because these schools hire for you to begin teaching in January. You can also find openings in July if it is a school that follows the US academic term.
-
Can I Do This With A Friend?
We have been able to facilitate couples living together in the same location. We will work with candidates to find a placement option that will work for them to stay together. If two in-person placements close to each other aren’t available then we would endeavor to place either both or one person in an online role where they can work remotely and choose where to live so they can stay together even if their friend/partner has a fixed location at a local academy.

How Much Money Do I Need To Bring With Me?
Applicants need to have sufficient funds to pay for the program fees and other associated costs of the program as well as to cover the cost of personal living expenses, including entertainment. The teacher's hours will build up over time so that extra savings may be needed in the first month after the course.
You should have around $2,500 with you when you arrive to get you to your first paycheck. Typically you'll teach a month before you get paid.
